Happy New Year – 2012!!!

It’s been a hell of a year in a lot of ways.  2011 is in the history books and we can look forward to making the most of 2012.  Looking forward, there are a few more things I want to do in 2012 that didn’t happen in 2011:

  1. More cycling in the Kingdom.
  2. More hiking.  2010 was a big hiking year finishing up the NH 4,000 footers and Pikes Peak.  2011 was nothing at all!
  3. Start Kingdom Ridge units 9 & 10, or at least get focused on the start.
  4. More time in the Kingdom during the fall.  Irene spoiled that for 2011.

All the best to everyone in 2012.

Where Did Summer Go?

One minute I’m enjoying those long summer days.  Then I woke up one morning and the leaves were falling off the trees.  It must be a sign of my age.  Of course Irene got the state of Vermont turned on its head which seemed to cancel the entire Labor Day Weekend for those of us responding to the disaster.  It didn’t really affect much of anything in the NEK (Northeast Kingdom), but sure did in central and southern Vermont.  I’ve spent a lot of my time on flood-related projects:

In closing, it’s time for me to get myself mentally adjusted to these shorter days, and I’d like to wish everyone a pleasant NEK fall.

Summer is Here

The Kingdom Trails are in great shape, the streams are still cool enough for great trout fishing, the scenery is great!

Summer’s Almost Here

Despite the rainy weekend of last, it is starting to feel a lot like summer.  We made it through the severe rain and storms without incident on our little hill.   Pretty soon all of the Kingdom Trails will be back in top condition again too.  Tommy and I have been doing a fair amount of fishing lately.  There is plenty of water!  The lakes and streams are very healthy and the trout are hungry.

Welcome Spring

That was a long winter!  There is still snow tucked into the nooks and crannies in the woods – unfortunately.  That means that Kingdom Trails will not open for a couple of more weeks.  However, Volunteer Trail Day is May 8th.  We hope you can make it.
